Terms

Plain language, honest scope. These apply to using this website. Purchases on Etsy are governed by Etsy's own terms.

Last updated: 2 October 2026

What this site is

Dogs Were Dogs™ is a brand. This website is where the brand lives — product pages, story, how we think about dogs and the industry around them. Tumblers are sold on Etsy; shirts are in production and will be sold here when they're ready. There is no checkout on this site today.

Our marks and designs

Dogs Were Dogs™, the three-pines device, the wordmark, the product lines ("I'm a dog owner. Not a dog parent.", "Dogs used to have jobs.", and so on), and all photography, illustrations and copy on this site are our intellectual property or licensed to us. The tagline "Good Dogs. A Simpler Time." is ours.

You're welcome to read the site, share a link to it, and reference it in reviews or editorial writing.

What you can't do

  • Reproduce our designs or print lines on your own merchandise. That includes close paraphrases — the point of a shirt is the specific line, and the specific line is ours.
  • Scrape or mirror the site, or train models on its contents.
  • Use our name, marks or designs in a way that suggests we endorse, partner with or supply you when we don't.

Links to Etsy and elsewhere

When you click "Buy on Etsy" from a tumbler page, you leave this site. The purchase, the payment, the shipping, the returns — all of it — happen on Etsy under Etsy's terms. We honor what Etsy tells us about an order and will respond to anything that comes to us directly, but we aren't the processor of record for those sales.

What we promise, and what we don't

We work to keep this site accurate, secure and up to date. We don't promise it is error-free or always available — no site honestly can. Nothing on these pages is legal, veterinary, financial or professional advice. If you're making a decision that matters, consult someone qualified.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes about this website that are not resolved informally go to the state or federal courts located in North Carolina.

Changes

If these terms change, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page changes with them. Continued use of the site after an update means the updated terms apply.

This is a plain-language first draft, not legal advice. A lawyer-reviewed version will land before any on-site checkout exists. In the meantime, questions go through Contact.
